Italy-America Chamber of Commerce

Gran Fondo New York

From May 16th to May 18th, 2014, the Italy America Chamber of Commerce welcomed the early signs of summer as it launched a collaboration with the Centro Estero Piemonte for the annual Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York (GFNY) bike expo and accompanying 100 mile bike race. The event, which attracted over 3000 cyclists and aficionados from around the world, was a venue perfectly adapted to promoting a multitude of cycling initiatives hosted in Italy’s Piedmont region. On May 16th and 17th, the Gran Fondo bike expo was hosted at the 69th Regiment Armory on Lexington Avenue, and featured a promotional stand dedicated to the Piedmont region. Passersby learned of the Region’s commitment to offering the perfect cycling experience: bike races, bike tours and many other wonderful activities that provide tourists with an opportunity to appreciate the region’s beautiful countryside. The event culminated with a 100 mile bike race on May 18th. 3000 cyclists biked a round trip course from the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey to the Bear Mountain National Park in New York State. Waiting for cyclists upon their return to New Jersey was a Pasta Party: chefs from “Il Gattopardo” restaurant in NYC prepared a fresh plate of pasta for each of the cyclists that made it to the finish line! The IACC is proud to have had this wonderful opportunity to support the Centro Estero Piemonte as it promoted the splendors of its region! Event sponsors included De Cecco, the Italian Trade Commission, Parmacotto USA and Agriform Srl.
