The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and Italpress, a leading Italian multimedia news agency, today announced a new three-year partnership to promote the National Italian American Foundation many transnational activities of interest to Italian readers and create enriching opportunities for the next generation.
As part of the agreement, NIAF and Italpress are launching the NIAF Italpress Internship in Journalism, providing three outstanding Italian American students or recent graduates the chance to complete a three-month internship at the Italpress oLice in Palermo, Rome or Milan. “We’re thrilled to join forces with such a prestigious journalistic institution in Italpress,” said NIAF President Robert Allegrini. “This collaboration will amplify NIAF’s voice while opening valuable doors for young Italian Americans pursuing careers in media and communications.”
The NIAF Italpress Internship program will begin accepting applications on May 15, 2024, through June 15, 2024. Each of the three selected interns will receive a €5,000 stipend from NIAF to cover travel and accommodations in Italy, in addition to working 36 hours per week at Italpress gaining real-world experience.

We have full confidence these interns will make immense contributions to our newsrooms.” To qualify, applicants must have at least one ancestor who immigrated from Italy, be a junior or senior in college or within one year after graduation, and have proficient Italian speaking, writing and comprehension abilities.
Finalists will undergo virtual interviews in Italian with Italpress staff before final selections are made on July 1, 2024. In addition to administering the internship program, NIAF has agreed to prominently feature Italpress at its high-profile events in Washington, D.C., including the annual Anniversary Galas, website, publications and more. Italpress will provide press coverage for NIAF’s major events and activities over the next three years.
The second, third and fourth editions of the Italpress awards will also take place during the NIAF’s 49th, 50th and 51st Anniversary Gala weekends.
