Made in Italy excellences with a particular focus on food and Expo Milan 2015 greeted the start of the Italian Presidency of the EU. In the frame of the United Nations headquarters, with a breathtaking view of the East River, the event organized by the Italian Mission to the UN has seen the participation of all the Italian institutions in New York, the Consulate General, Enit and the Italian Trade Commission, which led to the United Nations the Italian companies, from food to the Attolini’s clothes of the “Great Beauty”, and the Vespa Piaggio. The event was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina, who was visiting the U.S., and the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Jan Eliasson, and it has been an opportunity to reaffirm the role that our country will fulfill until the end of 2014. The Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations, Sebastiano Cardi, remind the priority of the Italian presidency of the EU as economic growth, democracy, freedom and a global role of the European Union. An ambitious program since, as Cardi pointed out, «An Europe stronger and more cohesive is the only solution to solve the problems of our time». Martina stressed «The hope that the next weeks and months will be a turning point for the EU and more in general for international debate. Europe is facing a very important step and Italy wants to make its contribution working on some key issues». Martina visited the Area Italia at the “Summer Fancy Food 2014”, one of the top five food and beverage show around the world, with the director of Italian Trace Commission Usa Pier Paolo Celeste. The Italian trade Commission New York has coordinated the presence of 350 Italian exhibitors, which have made the country the one with the largest participation. The minister has also took part in several events for the presentation of the Expo, and reiterated that Milan 2015 is a great opportunity to develop a tangible contribution to the international dialogue.
